KINDNESS (chrestoēs) – goodness; gentleness; benevolent, sharing and caring; excellence in character and countenance;

a loving kindness which encompasses one’s words, demeanor, and actions.

Ephesians 4:32 NIV

BE KIND and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

COMPELLED BY KINDNESS

(Scripture/Prayer Points)

Romans 2:4 NIV – Do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?  Lord, we repent if we have shown contempt to the kindness and tolerance You have shown towards us again and again; we realize that Your kindness leads us to repentance and compels us to continue to bear fruit in keeping with repentance.  Thank you that because Your compassions fail not we are not consumed and Your mercies are new every morning.

CONSIDERING HIS KINDNESS

(Scripture/Prayer Points)

Romans 11:22 NIV – Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness.  Lord, we pause today and consider the kindness documented for us by forgiving us our sins and removing them as far as the east is to the west and having compassion on our weaknesses, lawlessness, and wayward ways; today we will continue in Your kindness You have shown towards us by having found us faithful stewards of the trust given us, good and dependable servants, and those found serving and occupying until You return.

CARING WITH KINDNESS

(Scripture/Prayer Points)

2 Peter 1:5-11 NIV – For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.  But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Lord, we pour ourselves into kindness so that You can pour Your kindness into us; we will add goodness to our faith, and goodness to knowledge, and knowledge to self-control, and self-control to perseverance; and to perseverance godliness, and godliness to brotherly kindness.  For this is our intention and every effort in grace that we possess these qualities so these qualities can possess us in increasing measure.  Because these qualities culminate in brotherly kindness we will be kept from becoming ineffective and unproductive and we will not forget the kindness and compassion shown towards us at the cross and across Today.

CONSECRATED BY KINDNESS

(Scripture/Prayer Points)

Titus 3:3-6 NIV – At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior…  Lord, because Your lovingkindness is better than life, we will praise You and bless You for the favor You have shown towards us and we will seize each moment and make the most of every opportunity to be gracious, generous, and gentle even towards those who are undeserving, difficult, or deceived.  We will conduct random acts of kindness in a harsh, coarse, lawless culture and instead of killing others with hatred we chose to kill them with kindness – to heap burning coals into their lap by overcoming hatred with love and evil with kindness.
